Destination Design

Visiting the Rowe Furniture showroom during the High Point Market earlier this year was a bit like taking four or five mini-vacations. With Destination Designs, Rowe is bringing favorite vacation locales to the home front and allowing consumers to create their own personal getaways for year-round enjoyment.

“Our time-pressed lives are sparking the desire to turn our homes into a retreat from the world,” said Rowe Furniture Senior Vice President Stefanie Lucas.

At the recent High Point International Home Furnishings Market, Rowe debuted four Destination Design collections, including Desert Sanctuary, Mountain Retreat, Beach House and Artist’s Studio. With each theme, Rowe created lifestyle settings that showcased comfortable, user-friendly furnishings and paid homage to favorite vacation spots.

Artist’s Studio

Rowe representatives describe this collection as one that encourages consumers to “be impulsive and break all the rules.” At the furniture market, this line of furnishings included color-soaked combinations like a plum sofa with sage-green

pillows, black-and-white floral prints against red and white solids, and a turquoise sofa with yellow side chairs and Lucite end tables. Vibrant, trendy and even a bit bohemian, the Artist’s Studio line is perfect for Winston-Salem’s growing number of downtown loft residences and would also work in an upbeat, cheerful family room.

Desert Sanctuary

Think rust, sand and muted blues with cactus ornamentation and leaf motifs. Rowe describes the inspiration for this line as the result of “green going global” and a consumer desire “to be one with nature.” Earthy colors like russet and gray contrast with cool neutrals like stone and taupe to create an environment that evokes images of the Southwest, and those who favor features like cool tile floors in summer and outdoor firepits in winter will probably find this Destination Design to their liking.

Beach House

It’s a rite of summer for most North Carolinians – the annual trek to the coast. Although it would be easy to create a cliche’ with this line, Rowe did a nice job of creating the essence of a beach-house style without overdoing the usual shells and starfish usually used for a “beach look” with this collection, and anyone who wants to incorporate a summertime feel will enjoy the cool blue, muted coral, sunny yellow and crisp white hues.

Mountain Retreat

A roaring blaze in a soaring stone fireplace ... oversized sofas that invite hours of reading ... deep, dark tones that are classic and elegant – the Mountain Retreat collection calls to mind cozy log cabins and spacious glass-front villas overlooking majestic peaks. One sofa features nailhead trim with contrasting brown and green fabric, while another piece offers an unusual black, white and red combination in houndstooth. Rustic but also serene, the Mountain Retreat line is comfortably casual but also refined enough for all but the most formal settings.

Rowe representatives said that the new additions to the collection were “developed with the notion that every home should create the same sense of warmth, comfort, pleasure and inspiration as a vacation home. The company is extending its policy of completing custom orders in an average of 30 days with the new additions to the Destination Designs collection and invites customers to customize sofas, chairs and ottomans. The collection will be available through major and independent home-furnishings retailers. For more information about Rowe retailers, go to www.rowefurniture.com or call 800-334-7693.
