Robots: Here Today

Robots in the house may seem like something out of the Jetsons’, but they are very real tools that are used by thousands of home-owners.

At iRobots® there are robots for cleaning floors, pools, gutters and garages. You can also stay connected with loved ones with the new ConnectR™ which lets you virtually visit with loved ones, relatives and pets anytime you wish.

ConnectR™

Don’t miss out on special moments when you are away. The iRobot® Connect R™ is a new way to interact with your family when you can’t be there. Combining the latest in internet communications and robot technology, this robot lets you see and hear as if you were there in person. You can read your kids a story and see their faces light up even when you’re on a business trip and you can tell Fido he’s a “good boy” even while you’re on vacation.

The ConnectR™ is under $500 and considered easy to use. It enables real-time virtual visits over the internet. Equipped with high-quality audio and a video camera, the robot is located on-site in the home of the “host” party. Using a computer keyboard, mouse or joystick, the remote or visiting party can drive the robot around and interact with those on-site. The on-site host party can also direct the robot’s movements with a remote control.

Looj™ Gutter Cleaning Robot

A first of its kind, the iRobot® Looj™ Gutter Cleaning Robot is designed to simplify the difficult and dangerous job of gutter cleaning. The Looj cleans an entire stretch of gutter from one location, reducing the number of times a ladder must be repositioned and climbed during gutter cleaning. The 2.25-inch high Looj drives easily under gutter straps propelled by a three-stage auger that dislodges and sweeps out dirt, leaves and other debris that can cause costly water damage, overspills and ice dams.

The Looj also features a detachable handle that doubles as a wireless remote control, providing full control of the robot while cleaning.

iRobot® was founded in 1990 by roboticists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The company designs behavior-based, artificially intelligent robots which are capable of navigating through different situations from moving around furniture to searching abandoned buildings. More than 2.5 million home robots have been sold wworldwide. To purchase or for more information contact the company at www.irobot.com.
