Going ga-ga over Aga

In 2000 the BBC named the Aga Cooker one of the top three design icons.

The Aga Range has been around for more than eighty years, but sales have increased in the last six, said Norma Taylor, Eastern Regional Manager for Aga.

“Traditionally they only came in cream, but we now have 15 colors,” she said. “They are a compliment to the kitchen for the busy cook. It's always ready to go.”

The Aga is a way of life for over 750,000 owners worldwide. Although it has been thought of as British, the Aga was actually created in Sweden. It was invented in 1922 by Dr. Gustav Dalen, a blind Nobel Prize-winning physicist. The inventor was appalled that his wife and their maid had to constantly tend to their old-fashioned range so Dalen set out to design a modern cooker that would look after itself.

Aga has built on the iconic design, creating new products for modern times like dual fuel and electric cooking products, as well as refrigeration to bring homeowners close to their heritage.

The Aga is said to help homeowners cook better, eat better, and it is the original self-cleaning oven. In the year 2000, the BBC named the top three design icons: the Coca-Cola® contour bottle, the VW™ Bug and the Aga Cooker.

Inside the classic looks of an Aga, is cast iron. The cooker is a resourceful energy storage that transfers the heat from its core into its ovens and hotplates. This cooker is always ready to cook instantly and there are no switches and dials.

Thermostatic control maintains consistent temperatures while insulation within the outer casing and beneath the Hotplate covers make certain that the Aga uses fuel economically.

A new addition to the Aga is the Aga Legacy via the new Cathedral Door option. This is the first window to grace any Aga model and allows the cook to see what's cookin' without opening the oven door.

There are retailers for the Aga worldwide and locally including at Foremost Appliances. To locate an Aga dealer near you, visit www.aga-ranges.com or contact Aga Ranges, Inc. at (866) 4AGA-4USA.
