Slip Into Something Comfortable

The mist of the rain from high above the Kauri trees floats around you. The call of the Tooth-Billed Bowerbird is strangely calming. You're in a tropical rain forest. No, wait, silly, you're in your own high-tech, multi-functioning, walk-in and sit around, shower.

“Many people will forego the bathtub for a mac-daddy shower,” said Trevor Bryan, General Manager of Remodeling of NVS Bath and Kitchen in Manassas. “A shower can look phenomenal, it can really pop."

In today's hustle-bustle world, many people like to be able to get in and out of their bathrooms fast, but not have to give up the luxury that a bath can provide. And today's shower has everything from a two- or three-head European shower, built-in niches for sitting, heated floors, controlled temperatures, and hand-held showers on the slide bar. Multi-function showers have several shower heads that spray in different directions. You can have everything in the shower that you have in the bath,” Bryan said.

Homeowners have more options these days when designing their homes. And of course remodeling depends on the age of the home, the plumbing, and how much space you have. For a door-less shower, you have to have the space,” he said. Older homes were built with a basic bathroom design in mind, where today's market calls for master and bathroom suites.

Many homeowners completely take out the tub in their master bathroom, but that doesn't lower the resale value as long as there is a tub in the hallway bathroom.

The bathroom is considered among the three most important considerations when buying a home, ranking only behind curb appeal and kitchens, said Bryan. For more information on bathroom and kitchen designs, check out www.nvskb.com.
